Pastoral Letter in a Time of Solidarity and Fear

In a deeply divided and challenging political climate, church leaders are grappling with how to respond to injustice—both at home and abroad. The United Church of Christ Palestine Israel Network (UCC PIN) urges us not to look away from the suffering in Palestine, where Palestinians endure forced poverty, home demolitions, military harassment, and relentless violence—especially in Gaza, where bombings, starvation, and untreated injuries claim lives daily.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. The struggles for Palestinian liberation, racial justice, Indigenous rights, and migrant dignity are interconnected. Remaining silent in the face of oppression in Palestine undermines our moral voice on all issues.
UCC PIN offers resources—educational materials, webinars, prayers, and liturgy—to help congregations engage in solidarity. They’re also hosting a Zoom event, "Solidarity with Palestine, Strength in Community," on June 5 at 6 PM EST to support clergy navigating fear and seeking faithful action.
Now is the time to reject selective justice and embrace a commitment to universal human dignity. Will you join the movement?
